LADY GAGA AND TERRY RICHARDSON COLLABORATE ON UNPRECEDENTED BOOK OF PHOTOGRAPHS TO BE PUBLISHED BY GRAND CENTRAL PUBLISHING IN TIME FOR 2011 HOLIDAY SEASON
New York, NY — July, 28, 2011 — Grand Central Publishing, an imprint of Hachette Book Group, announced today that it will publish LADY GAGA, a book of never-before-seen photographs of Lady Gaga taken by renowned photographer Terry Richardson. Lady Gaga will write the foreword to the book, which is scheduled to be published on November 22, 2011.
Jamie Raab, Executive Vice President and Publisher of Grand Central Publishing, said, “We are proud to be publishing this remarkable collaboration between Lady Gaga and Terry Richardson and anticipate that it will be one of the most stunning, provocative and coveted books of the 2011 holiday season.” Raab acquired world rights to the book from William Morris Endeavor Entertainment in association with Atom Factory. Taschen Books will publish a very limited edition of the book to be released the following year.
A visual dialogue between Lady Gaga and Terry Richardson, the book will showcase over 350 color and black and white photographs taken during the 10 month period in which Richardson followed Lady Gaga and had complete access to her everyday life, with nothing being off limits. Beginning with Lollapalooza in August 2010 to the February 2011 Grammy Awards which had 26.66 million viewers, (the highest viewership in over a decade) to the final shows of her Monster Ball tour which averaged an attendance of 90,000 people each day, Richardson brilliantly captures the intimate, random, behind-the-scenes moments of Lady Gaga in both her professional and personal life. During the almost year-long global odyssey, Richardson took over 100,000 images and followed the recording process of BORN THIS WAY. The resulting book, featuring some of the most revelatory and exciting of these photographs, captures Lady Gaga as never before seen.
Terry Richardson is one of the most prolific and compelling photographers of his generation. Known for his uncanny ability to cut to the raw essence of whomever appears before his lens, Mr. Richardson’s vision is at once humorous, tragic, often beautiful, and always provocative. Richardson’s editorial work has appeared in magazines such as French Vogue, British Vogue, GQ, and Harper’s Bazaar. Lady Gaga has performed 'You and I' on AMP Radio, as well as confirming it as her upcoming fourth single from her studio album 'BORN THIS WAY'. 'You and I' is written by Gaga herself, about her long-time Nebraska boyfriend, Luc Carl. Although most Gaga fans wished for Scheiße being the 4th single, Gaga decided on 'You and I'. The premise of the video is that she walks all the way from New York to Nebraska, just to get her lover back. Gaga also tweeted a photo of her shoes, being dirtied with grass, which may be a part of the music video.

Lady Gaga has revealed through a radio interview that "YOU AND I" will be the fourth single from her latest studio album, "BORN THIS WAY", which went #1 in the US in a mere 5 hours on iTunes. "You and I" speaks about a story between Gaga herself and Luc Carl, her long-time boyfriend since pre-Fame. Gaga has provided many hints previously about "You and I" being a single, including performing the song at the Sydney MonsterHall as Yuyi the Mermaid, who will appear in the "You and I" music video.
"You and I" will be released as a set (single + music video) in a "couple of weeks".
After Lady Gaga spotted Maria Aragon, a talented 10 year old girl who makes covers and posts them on YouTube, the girl has seemingly shot up to fame after Gaga tweeted her video a few months ago. Her cover of 'Born This Way' went viral, attracting more than 2 million hits in its first day of being uploaded. In a Toronto concert of the Monster Ball early this year (March), Maria was invited on stage to sing 'Born This Way' with Gaga herself, and also made television appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in Los Angeles and Good Morning America in New York, recently singing O Canada for Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton for a crowd of over 300,000 at a Canada Day celebration in Ottawa earlier this month.

Lady Gaga has responded to Amy Winehouse's death via her Twitter account (@ladygaga). Amy died at the age of 27 (1983 – 2011), joining the legendary 27 Club which enlists other artists who died at the age of 27. The cause of Amy's death, however, is currently unknown.
