Lady Gaga is the first woman to receive the Recording Industry Association of America’s Digital Diamond Award.
It would appear that a lot of people purchased the single “Bad Romance” since its release back in 2009. In fact, Lady Gaga moved enough copies of the song to qualify for a very significant award from the RIAA. She’s also the first female recording artist to add this honor to her shelf of career-spanning accomplishments.
According to the Guardian Liberty Voice, the controversial performer has officially sold over 10,000,000 digital copies of “Bad Romance.” To properly recognize this accomplishment, the officials for the aforementioned association sent over the Digital Diamond Award.
“With this award, Lady Gaga joins a prestigious and exclusive list of Gold and Platinum luminaries. ‘Bad Romance’ is one of the most popular and iconic songs of the last decade. We are honoured to present Lady Gaga with a Diamond Award,” RIAA chairman and CEO Cary Sherman explained.
