Lady Gaga has officially revealed the second single from ARTPOP. Setting her fans the challenge of unlocking the single by trending its title on Twitter, Gaga told fans:
“Ready to know what/when the next single is? TREND your song prediction and when you guess it right I will announce it! In order to unlock my announcement u must work together. Good Luck. 911 POP MUSIC EMERGENCY THIS IS NOT A FIREDRILL #OperationTrend2ndSingle”
Once fans tweeted ‘Venus’, Gaga revealed,
“2ND SINGLE #VENUS Worldwide Release OCT. 27 2013. Descend your discoballs. #TAKEMETOYOURPLANET #TAKEMETOYOURLEADER #TAKEMETOYOURVENUS”
The Venus myth has influenced Gaga’s recent work, with segments of Boticelli’s The Birth Of Venus featured on the ARTPOP cover and regular mentions the song on her Twitter.
