Lady Gaga’s “ARTPOP” (Interscope/Universal) became her third U.K. No. 1 album Sunday (Nov. 17).
“ARTPOP” is the 999th No. 1 in the 57-year history of the U.K. album chart, which sets up a big battle for the 1,000th bestseller this week, likely to be between Gaga, Robbie Williams, JLS and Jake Bugg. Meanwhile, Gaga extends a run of album chart successes that began in 2009 with “The Fame” and continued with “Born This Way” in 2011. From the new album, “Do What U Want,” featuring R. Kelly, arrived at No. 9 in the Official Charts Company’s latest data.
