LADY GAGA THOUGHT OF AMY WINEHOUSE EVERY DAY WHILE RECORDING WITH TONY BENNETT

Lady Gaga has teamed up with veteran singer Tony Bennett on new album Cheek to Cheek.

And Gaga says she felt incredibly inspired by Amy, who died in July 2011, while laying down the record.

“I thought of her almost every day in the studio. I wish she was still here. She was jazz to her core,” Gaga wrote during a Twitter question and answer session.

“I’m sure that she would be proud and that makes me feel good,” Tony added

Gaga also spoke openly about how close she grew to Tony during the recording of the album. The singer added she will consider Tony a friend for life.

“Tony told me Frank Sinatra changed his life when he said ‘For my money, Tony Bennett is the best singer in the business.’

“Tony is MY Frank. What he has done for me will change my career forever. And I truly cherish our friendship,” she wrote.

Gaga was also asked by fans how recording the album differed from previous sessions in the studio.

And the singer admitted the lack of any autotuning processes made the experience entirely unique.

“Every song was recorded live in studio w/ band at the same time. No autotune. All recordings are single takes,” she tweeted.

Cheek to Cheek is already proving a success, and is currently number one on the iTunes worldwide album chart.

And Tony said in the Q&A session the collaborative record may not be the last we see of him and Gaga.

Asked if the pair would team up on another album, Tony replied: “I’m hoping we sing together for a long time.”
