Officials at the New York Mets baseball team have apologised to comedian JERRY SEINFELD after they allowed pop star LADY GAGA to take over his private box at Citi Field when she complained about the paparazzi at a game on Thursday night (10Jun10).
The Paparazzi singer was hoping to watch the game against the visiting San Diego Padres in peace and when she noticed photographers snapping her every move, she demanded a seat change.
Quick-think officials moved her to a vacant celebrity box, where Gaga took off a leather jacket to reveal her underwear and then proceeded to flip her middle finger at the snappers down below.
When the shots were published in the New York newspapers on Friday (11Jun10), Mets marketing bosses realised GaGa had been seated in Seinfeld’s box and issued an immediate apology for giving up his luxury seats without his authorisation.
The comic saw the funny side. His representative says, “The Seinfelds take an optimistic view of Lady Gaga’s (hand) gesture as a sign that she wants the Mets to be in first place as badly as they do.”
Meanwhile, Gaga has taken to Twitter.com to defend her rude hand gestures, accusing Mets officials of setting her up so they could make headlines.
She writes, “A middle finger is more New York than a corporate ambush.”
