In a new teaser released lately, the music icon confirmed she’ll star in “Joker: Folie à Deux,” the highly anticipated sequel for the 2019 film “Joker.”
The original film grossed over $1 billion worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo, and was nominated for 11 Academy Awards, including best picture. Joaquin Phoenix won the best-actor Oscar for his performance in the movie.
Phoenix will return to play failed comedian and clown-faced troubled loner Arthur Fleck, who was incarcerated for murdering his favorite late-show host (Robert De Niro) at the end of the first film. Todd Phillips also returns to direct the sequel.
The movie is set to release October 4, 2024.
