After two years of waiting (thanks to the pandemic), Gaga’s latest tour, the Chromatica Ball, has been one of the most enthralling concerts in years. To capture this historical cultural triumph on wheels, Hedi Slimane picked up his camera for a spontaneous photoshoot of the star backstage at her Paris show on July 24th.
This rendez-vous happened over a decade after Slimane and Gaga first met, with the former photographing the latter for her sophomore album’s (The Fame Monster) cover art. As 74,000 fans poured into the Stade du France, the two creative powerhouses reconnected for an off-the-cuff documentation of one of the world’s biggest stars before she entertained her largest live crowd to date.
Stay tuned for more of Slimane’s photos, as well as an exclusive interview with Lady Gaga herself.
