Lady Gaga At ‘American Idiot Cast Musical’ Sharing Own Broadway Dreams

Pop superstar Lady Gaga landed on Broadway on February 23, taking in a performance of the Green Day rock hit American Idiot. After the show, the icon rushed backstage to meet the young stars of the show, sharing her own dreams of starring on Broadway.

“I went to [NYU drama school] Tisch to do exactly what you are doing on this stage,” she gushed to the cast. “That was my dream: Broadway and theater. I failed…and you guys are the rock stars! You should be so proud of yourselves.I loved the show,” Gaga told the Idiot crew, before handing out merchandise from her Monster Ball tour that she brought as gifts. “I cried and cried… I loved it!”

Gaga did indeed study musical theater throughout high school and during her two years at NYU. In fact, while attending the Convent of the Sacred Heart, an all-girls private school on New York’s Upper East Side, she starred as Adelaide in Guys and Dolls and Philia in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. She is currently savoring her three 2011 Grammy Award wins and the international success of her new single “Born This Way,” which is #1 in fourteen countries.
