Lady GaGa Is Set To Perform For ‘Robin Hood Gala’ This Year

Pop music sensation Lady Gaga is set to headline this year's Robin Hood Foundation gala in New York.

The charity was founded more than two decades ago by Tudor Investment Corp. founder Paul Tudor Jones, benefitting poor New Yorkers and giving money to other groups that focus on homelessness and education in New York City.Lady Gaga, a native New Yorker, is perhaps best known for her hit songs and outrageous outfits. But she has become something of a social activist and philanthropist, as well. Last year, she donated all of the receipts from a concert at New York's Radio City Music Hall to Haiti's reconstruction relief fund, and this month began selling prayer bracelets she designed to benefit Japan following its devastating earthquake. She has also been active in HIV/AIDS charities and is an outspoken supporter of gay marriage and gay rights.

The Robin Hood gala is on May 9 at New York's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Those needing to see Lady Gaga (or wanting to help a worthy cause) can call (212) 245-6570, extension 20, or e-mail debbief@eventassociatesinc.com
