Daniel Radcliffe On Lady Gaga’s Gay Rights Support

Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry Potter in the film series, says Lady Gaga's gay rights advocacy is more 'flamboyant' than his own. The barely legal 21-year-old actor's support for the LGBT teen suicide hotline The Trevor Project has earned him a Hero Award from the group. During an interview with MTV News, Radcliffe praised the Born This Way singer for her gay rights advocacy.

“She's very outspoken as well, and it's just about being who you were born as,” Radcliffe said.

“It's wonderful that other people are coming out from all different spectrums.”

“I mean, she has a slightly more flamboyant way of putting her point across than I would, and it suits her a lot better than it would me. But we're both aiming for the same thing.”

Last year, Lady Gaga mounted a one-celebrity campaign to repeal the policy that bans gay and bisexual troops from serving in the military – known as “Don't Ask, Don't Tell.”

Radcliffe added that he has no reservations about backing gay rights. “It's something I've always been quite passionate about,” he said. “Because I grew up around gay men, it was always a natural thing to me. It was never something I ever gave a second thought to.”
